Safety On Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 June 2026

Safety On helps people share safety information with trusted friends and family, start Safety On trips, receive Guardian App Alerts, use My Circle live location sharing, and manage optional membership features. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to users.

1. Who we are

Safety On is the personal safety service available through mysafetyon.com and the Safety On app.

If you have a privacy question or request, contact support@mysafetyon.com.

2. What Safety On does

Safety On helps users set up a Safety On profile, start timed protection trips, choose trusted guardians, share live location in My Circle, and receive or manage Guardian App Alerts.

Safety On is a personal safety and location-sharing app. It is not a replacement for emergency services, medical monitoring, or professional emergency response.

3. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use Safety On, and technical information needed to operate the service.

  • profile details such as your name, phone number, email address, age group, and sign-in status;
  • Safety On trip details such as destination notes, expected time, check-in status, trip timing, and alert status;
  • selected guardian details and related alert-routing information;
  • Guardian App Alerts setup details, trusted-device details, and response status;
  • Circle names, Circle membership, invite codes or links, and related participation details;
  • precise or approximate location and related sharing state when location features and permissions are used;
  • optional location history where the feature is enabled for the user and plan;
  • notification tokens, app version, device information, sign-in/session information, and operational logs;
  • membership, plan, entitlement, billing-status, and purchase records needed to operate paid features.

4. How we use information

  • to create and manage your Safety On profile;
  • to run Safety On trips, check-ins, alerts, and escalation steps;
  • to show live location to the guardians and Circle members you choose;
  • to create and manage Circles, invites, and sharing preferences;
  • to deliver Guardian App Alerts and related notifications;
  • to support sign-in, restore, membership, billing, and entitlement checks;
  • to protect the service, investigate bugs, and keep Safety On reliable and secure;
  • to meet legal obligations where required.

5. Location and background location

When you grant location permission, Safety On may collect precise location information to support live safety location sharing with trusted friends and family, active Safety On protection features, and guardian alerts.

If you allow background location, Safety On can keep sharing and updating location when the phone is locked or the app is in the background. This helps active trips, My Circle sharing, Guardian App Alerts, and optional recent location history continue more reliably.

Background location is not used for advertising.

6. My Circle and live location sharing

My Circle lets users share live location and everyday connection with the Circle members they choose. Users choose who is in their Circle and who can see the information shared there.

Safety On currently uses the latest live location snapshot for My Circle sharing when sharing is enabled. Full movement history for every Circle member is not part of the standard live-sharing view.

7. Location history

Location history is optional and plan-limited. Where available, Safety On currently describes the history window as: Free: 2 days, Safety On Plus: 7 days, Safety On Premium: 30 days.

Users can turn location history off where the app provides that control. Live sharing controls also depend on the role a user has in a Circle. Circle owners remain part of their own Circle while it exists.

8. Guardians and alerts

Users choose the guardians they want Safety On to contact. Safety On may share relevant trip details, alert status, and useful live location information with those guardians so they can respond.

Guardian App Alerts are a related but separate app sign-in flow for phones that should receive free guardian alerts for someone else.

9. Contacts

If you allow contacts access, Safety On can read contact details on your device to help you choose guardians or people to invite. We do not say your full address book is uploaded simply because you grant permission.

The specific names, phone numbers, or email addresses you choose to use with Safety On may then be stored as part of your trips, invites, guardian selections, or Circle membership.

10. Notifications and device data

Safety On uses push notifications and related device data to deliver Guardian App Alerts, support trip and sign-in flows, and keep the app working properly.

  • push notification tokens and trusted-device status;
  • device and app information needed for app operation;
  • authentication and session information, including Firebase email-link sign-in status;
  • server, error, diagnostic, and security logs;
  • map and location-display requests made through Google Maps or related map services.

11. Payments and membership

Safety On may receive membership, plan, entitlement, and payment-status information needed to operate paid features. For the Google Play version, in-app purchases may be handled by Google Play. Safety On may also use payment providers such as Stripe for website or other supported purchase paths.

Payment providers process their own payment details under their own terms and privacy policies. Safety On does not store full card numbers or card security codes.

12. When we share information

We share information only where needed to operate Safety On, support the user's choices, or meet legal, security, and safety requirements.

  • with the guardians and Circle members you choose so the app can provide live sharing and alert features;
  • with service providers such as hosting, email, sign-in, notification, map, and payment providers where needed to run the service;
  • with legal or regulatory authorities where required by law or to protect users, Safety On, or the public;
  • as part of business restructuring or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards, if Safety On changes ownership or structure.

Safety On does not sell personal data, and it does not use background location for advertising.

13. Data retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed to operate Safety On, maintain security, support the features you use, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and keep payment or fraud-prevention records where necessary.

14. User choices and controls

  • update your profile details in the app where available;
  • choose your guardians and Circle members;
  • turn location or notification permissions on or off in your device settings;
  • turn location history on or off where the app provides that control;
  • leave Circles or remove data where the app provides that control;
  • contact us to request access, correction, or deletion.

15. Children

Safety On is designed for personal safety and family or friend coordination. If local law requires a parent or legal guardian to consent to a child's use of the service, that consent must be provided before use.

16. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. This includes secure transport where supported, encrypted data in transit, authenticated access for protected service routes, and access controls around systems used to operate Safety On.

No website, app, or internet service can guarantee perfect security, so users should also protect their devices, email accounts, and sign-in links.

17. International transfers

Safety On and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Safety On changes. If changes are material, we may update this page and, where appropriate, use the app or website to draw attention to the change.
